Clover Hope is a longtime journalist and author who, for nearly two decades, has led culturally rich conversations in the world of print, digital, audio, and television. Her work has appeared in the pages of Vibe, Vogue, Esquire, EssenceElle, GQ, Wall Street Journal Magazine, The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Wired, ESPN, and Billboard, to name a few.

Hope has written profound pieces of music criticism and profiled a wide range of entertainment stars, from Beyoncé to Usher, Maya Rudolph, Kid Cudi, Zendaya, and Regina King. As an executive producer and creative consultant, she’s worked with an array of clients, including Google, YouTube, Hulu, Raedio, Apple, Nike, Master Class, and Audible. Her 2021 book, The Motherlode: 100+ Women Who Made Hip-Hop, is a comprehensive, illustrated history of women in hip-hop, available in bookstores via Abrams Books.

Prior to becoming a freelance writer, Hope worked as a full-time writer and editor at Billboard, XXL, Vibe, and Jezebel.com. She’s appeared on NPR, Apple Music, Sirius XM, TV One, and NY1 News, as well as The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and The Ringer podcasts, sharing her expertise on hip-hop.

Hope is currently an independent writer and editor, a contributing writer for Pitchfork, and an adjunct professor teaching culture writing at her alma mater, New York University. Some of her notable creative productions include Beyoncé’s Emmy-winning visual film Black Is King (2021) and Hulu’s acclaimed docu-series RapCaviar Presents (2023).
